What’s better than bread and butter?
Bread and butter pickles!
Our video will give you a brief overview of the canning process we used by using a canner made by Ball called fresh tech.
Bread & Butter Pickles Recipe

- 1 gallon sliced cucumbers
- 8 small onions, sliced
- ½ cup salt
Sprinkle salt over cucumbers and onions.
Cover with ice cubes.
Let stand for at least 3 hours.
Drain and rinse with cold water and let drain again.
- 3 ½ cups sugar
- 3 cups vinegar
- 2 tbsp. mustard seed
- 1 tbsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. numeric
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
Bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add cucumbers and onions.
Bring to scalding (almost boiling) stirring frequently.
Put in jars, packing loosely and covering cucumbers with syrup.
Wipe rims, and put on lids and rings.
Invert for 10 minutes.
Makes about 8 pints.
